Wednesday morning wind chill forecast

Our intense Arctic blast shows no signs of letting up as we head into Wednesday, with dangerously cold wind chills ranging from –15° to –20° across the entire region. This isn’t just a routine cold snap — it’s the result of a powerful, deeply entrenched Arctic high‑pressure system that has settled directly overhead.

Combine that with the deep, widespread snowpack blanketing Northern Ohio, and the atmosphere is essentially supercharging the cold. Snow reflects heat, traps cold air, and prevents daytime warming — meaning temperatures are plunging even lower than they otherwise would.

This bitter cold is becoming a major concern for schools, many of which have already burned through their allotted calamity days. With wind chills this extreme, another round of closures on Wednesday is increasingly likely, especially for districts prioritizing student safety.

And the bigger story? This cold isn’t going anywhere. Long‑range guidance continues to show a persistent, stubbornly locked‑in Arctic pattern that could grip the region for the next couple of weeks, keeping temperatures well below normal and maintaining the deep freeze.

Winter is fully in control — and it’s not ready to let go.
